Over the past two years, my husband and I have purchased 3 packages from Helen. Being a ‘first time mom’ I had absolutely no idea what to do and how to do it. My daughter slept in my bed till she was 10 months old and fell asleep while soothing on my breast. When I started to transition her into a crib she did not know how to self-soothe, sleep independently, or know how to sleep for long stretches at a time nor did I know how to help her that was the first time I reached out to Helen. I was desperate for help, my mat leave was coming to an end and I didn’t know how she was going to transition into daycare, and how I was going to get back into the workforce without getting any sleep at night! My husband and I were so sleep deprived that we desperately needed help!

Helen developed a customized plan and successfully helped us transition our daughter into her crib, which brought peace and order back into our lives! Helen provided me with so much guidance and direction and she was such a pleasure to deal with, that we then decided to purchase a monthly membership package for a year. Helen coached me on how to deal with a variety of things, such as how to effectively deal with meals, certain behaviours, situations in public, the importance of routine, etc. My daughter has a very strong personality and being a first time-mom, I made a lot of mistakes! Helen helped bring balance back into our lives and my husband and I felt confident to effectively move forward on our own.

The third time we engaged Helen’s help was time to transition her from a crib to a toddler bed. She successfully developed another customized plan. Over the past two years, our daughter has been sleeping 11 to 12 hours through the night and if she does wake up, she is typically able to put herself back to sleep. Helen has been a reliable source who helped us transition from the infant stage into the toddler years. She is very knowledgeable and has a wealth of experience. Not only does my daughter now have good sleep habits, but people regularly comment about how well behaved she is and how well she listens to her mummy and daddy this is all thanks to Helen! Without her help, the past two years would have continued to be full of sleepless nights and chaos. We are so grateful for Helen’s support, guidance, coaching and pleasant personality! She is awesome at what she does! We highly recommend Helen, it’s not only an investment in your child, but it’s also an investment in your family and your mental and physical well-being. Thank you Helen!

When our son, Nicholas, was four months old, we started to form some undesirable sleeping habits and associations. Naps and night time sleeps were a struggle every single day. It got to the point where Nicholas would nurse to sleep and refuse to be put down, or would need to sleep in our bed. He woke up every 1.5 to 2 hours, and I was basically a human pacifier for him. Our entire household was not getting any sleep – not even the dog! I was also beginning to detest nursing my baby, which made me really sad.

At Nicholas’s six-month well-baby checkup, our doctor suggested we give Helen Sands a call. We made the call at the end of October and have not regretted our decision. She listened to our concerns and tailored a sleep-training plan that suited our lifestyle and our baby’s needs. We implemented the plan exactly as Helen laid out for us and within just over a week, Nicholas went from waking every 1.5-2 hours, to sleeping from 645pm to 6am! He goes down for bed without a fight; and we’ve even made it through a cold and his first tooth without much night time interruptions. I also love nursing again, and our cuddle time is so much sweeter!

I have been recommending Helen’s services to everyone I talk to who would listen. She truly is our sandman “Sand-lady”!

We hired Helen to help us sleep train our 10 month old, who was getting up sometimes a dozen times a night. We were exhausted and honestly skeptical, but within only 4-5 days saw major improvement both with naps and overnight sleep.

The first few days weren’t easy as a parent–you have to be committed and consistent, but the results truly paid off.
Our baby now naps her 3 hours during the day, plus 11 hours of overnight sleep which means both she is rested as well as the rest of the family.

It has taken a huge burden of stress off of us and is the best thing we could have done for our baby. Helen understood our questions and helped guide us; having her support was instrumental in being successful as we did have questions along the way.

It’s not just a sleep plan, it truly is tailored to your child’s needs. We would highly recommend Helen to anyone who wants to teach their baby how to self soothe and learn to sleep without crutches like rocking, nursing, etc Thanks Helen!

At 4.5 months, my son was waking multiple times in the night and catnapping throughout the day in my arms or in a carrier. At his worst, he was waking every 30 minutes and required breastfeeding to fall back to sleep. Co-sleeping was our fall-back plan that left everyone grumpy in the morning. I was on my own as my husband was working, and to say it was exhausting is an understatement.

Fast forward a month and my son normally sleeps from 6:45pm – 7am with one nighttime feed, which will gently be removed soon. His naps have dramatically improved and he now sleeps (happily!) in his crib. There are no drawn-out routines or crutches, and it takes me a few minutes to put him down for a nap. I can finally take long showers, cook for fun, and feel human again.

Helen is known amongst health professionals in our area as “Auntie Helen” and many sing her praises. I am so grateful that we took this route and trusted her expertise. Yes, it requires effort and you must be dedicated to the sleep plan – but the payoff is huge.

While crying is part of any sleep training, this is by far the BEST way to go about. As a sensitive person, it was a relief to know I could comfort my baby when he cried. Eventually baby figured out that falling asleep on his own is a positive experience! Our baby quietly sucks his fingers and rubs his belly to sleep now, and wakes up happy and relaxed in the morning.

If you are sleep deprived and on the fence – do it. You won’t regret it.

When I contacted Helen, I had just returned to work and was desperately trying to get my 12 month old to sleep in his own crib.  My husband and I were frustrated and exhausted.  Casey had always been an extremely difficult sleeper and would go into absolute hysterics when it was time to go to sleep.  Honestly, I was very doubtful that she would be able to assist.  Helen adjusted everything from Casey’s bedroom setup, to his caloric intake.  Her plan was extremely detailed and easy to follow (albeit hard work!!).  Within days of starting her plan we started to see changes – we were honestly shocked.

Now, our child that would turn into the Incredible Hulk at nap and bed time, cuddles into his little bear and drifts off to sleep!!  It feels like nothing short of a miracle!!  Casey wakes up so much happier and my husband and I feel like a weight has been lifted off of our shoulders!  Helen taught me that Casey wasn’t fighting sleep, he just didn’t know how to fall asleep without our assistance.   With support from Helen, we were able to comfort Casey while teaching him to fall asleep on his own – what a gift!  I can’t thank Helen enough!
